The Digital Literacy Foundation is donating 20 iPads to Richmond and Windsor libraries, in a new partnership with Hawkesbury Library Service, to improve digital inclusion for seniors living in the Hawkesbury region.
Beginning in November, on a trial 3-month basis, Hawkesbury residents aged 65+* (or 50+ for First Nations) who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford to go online will have access to Apple iPads. These iPads will be pre-loaded with accessibility features, and come with an initial 12 months free Internet access, so recipients don’t need to worry about accessing Wi-Fi to use the device. The iPads also come with a handy easygrip protective case that ensures you can use the device worry free. Digital mentoring is provided by the Digital Literacy Foundation’s trained volunteer Tech Mates, and ongoing iPad maintenance and support is also provided by the Digital Literacy Foundation.
