The team at Leep has been hard at work, this past month, transferring its successful, free, volunteer led one-on-one mentoring sessions. We’ve moved to a remote delivery model to meet the rapidly growing need for digital skills support in the COVID-19 era. We are deeply grateful to our current base of Tech Mates for continuing their support and for the 100 + new Tech Mates that have answered our call for volunteers. We have more Tech Mates ready to help than ever before. Their breadth of experience and expertise means we are able to offer assistance in ways we hadn’t been able to previously – our Specialist Tech Mates are able to assist learners take the steps necessary to set up devices and connect to the internet.
We are all systems go for our new program, but we need your help to reach the people that need it most.
The sudden isolation brought on by COVID-19 restrictions has highlighted the stark reality of how many people need help getting online so they can access essential services. As part of our move to remote delivery we’ve made it easier for you to refer anyone who needs our assistance to gain the necessary digital skills to get online. If you have family, friends, colleagues or neighbours that need a little encouragement to start this learning journey then please talk to them. We all have someone in our network that we’ve helped navigate a device or could use some help getting around on their computer, tablet, or mobile. Now is the time to get them connected to Leep through our online referral or by phoning 1300 163 106. We will do the rest. With support from a highly trained, patient and supervised Tech Mate we will be able to assist them to gain access to vital services. Risky outside ventures to banks, shops, and appointments can be avoided by navigating these services online.
