SIM Card Activation Process
HOW TO INSERT SIM CARD INTO IPAD

Thank you for your application for a free SIM card provided by the Digital Literacy Foundation partnered with Optus .
You have come to this page because you have now received your free SIM card in the mail and are ready to activate the SIM.
There are two (2) ways to activate your SIM card; please see these details below:
You will require Accepted ID for activation. Please ensure you have the correct identification ready. Optus will ask you for your identification details as required by law.
Ways to activate your SIM
Method 1 - In Store Activation
Take your iPad and ID and attend your nearest Optus store. They will complete all the steps and activate the SIM card for you . You can find your nearest Optus store by clicking here.
Method 2 - Ask Your Friendly DLF Tech Mate
Please contact your local friendly DLF Tech Mate who would be happy to assist you in activating your SIM card. Contact us here if you need a Tech Mate or call us on 02 9090 4141.
Method 3 - Online Activation
For the brave of heart or those who would like to try activating the SIM card themsleves online. Please follow the steps below to activate your SIM card online.
Online Activation
If possible, have a go at online activation – you can always go into your nearest Optus store if you get stuck!
STEP 1:
Activation
Go to Optus activation page here: https://www.optus.com.au/activate and enter your SIM number and click validate. You can find your SIM number on at the top of the plastic SIM card inside the green cardboard pouch we sent you.
STEP 2:
SIM Number
Enter your SIM number and click on ‘Validate SIM‘. You can locate the SIM number at the top of the plastic SIM card we sent you in the mail.
STEP 3:
New Number
Select “Get a new number‘.
STEP 4:
New Number Provided
Take note of your new number and click Continue. Please note that this SIM card cannot be used for Voice calls, only Data.
STEP 5:
Select Plan
Select the Plan provided, you will not have to pay any money.
STEP 6:
Continue with Selected Plan
You will note that the cost is $0. Then click Continue.
STEP 7:
Select ID Type
You can select any of the ID type offered in the list; Drivers License, Australian Passport, Other Passport or Medicare Card.
STEP 8:
Complete Details
Complete the required details.
STEP 9:
Terms & Conditions
Agree to Terms & Conditions and if you accept, tick the box and click Activate SIM.
STEP 10:
Activation Completed
You will now have completed the process.
