PPR (Participation and the Practice of Rights) has released a report – Locked Down and Cut Off – on life without Internet. One year after COVID-19 started many people are still locked down and cut off. PPR’s goal is to Flick the Switch and make Internet access available in hostels and care facilities everywhere.
Their report is a stunning insight into how lives are deeply affected by the lack of access to the Internet. “Internet connectivity is as important as the freedom of movement; it is a right, not a privilege to be granted dependent on income or status.” COVID-19 has made it apparent that Internet access is a human right.
