Penrith City Council’s Thursday Night Live

Penrith City Council, along with Western Sydney musicians, came together to entertain residents during lockdown with Thursday Night Live, a one hour live-streamed event featured on Penrith City Council’s Facebook page. The series showcased some of the region’s best local musicians for everyone to enjoy, without having to leave their homes.

The Sydney Morning Herald highlighted some of the amazing musicians taking part in this initiative. Local musicians, including Brett Sams and Liam Gray, took their talents online to brighten Thursday nights during lockdown. Their gigs not only provided a sense of purpose for the musicians involved, but also helped the hard-hit Penrith community.

Divinia Jean, another Penrith musician, highlighted the importance technology plays in our lives, especially during lockdown. “In these high-stress situations, it’s really easy to lose motivation for things that bring you joy, so the livestreams have been really helpful to push me to pick up the guitar and make music,” she said.

As vaccination rates continue to rise, we’ll move out of lockdown and get to enjoy more in-person events. Musical acts will take “the stage” on Thursday Night Live this coming Thursday, 28th October from 7.30pm.
